Gove's removal of Sally Morgan is clearly going to damage the independent status of Ofsted. He has stated that it is simply good corporate practice to replace someone after three years, but such a move certainly lessens the ability of educators to have a fair system of independent examination. It would make far more sense to have a body of teachers and educators make an a decision every five years no matter who is in government. David Laws is right to say the role is part of a political game, and it is worrying to think that Ofsted might be headed by private equity boss, Theodore Agnew.
Later this week in Confessions of a Private Tutor I will be talking about arts and education, poodles, and some useful tutorial advice.
